London Day 1: Rainy Days and Tourism

Day 1 in London: Rainy Days and Tourism

We started the day off strong traveling from Oxford to London in the pouring rain. As we have navigated the mode of transportation by train, the process we undergo to change cities has gotten easier and easier. Even in the rain, we got to "The Big Smoke" (More popularly known as London!) without many difficulties. The students and teachers have found a restaurant we all love, Nandos! We had a delicious lunch there and got ready to go to The National Gallery.

The National Gallery is an art museum popular for its famous paintings done by great artists like Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Diego Velázquez, Pablo Picasso, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Michelangelo. This was my favorite thing we have done, seeing as one of my favorite paintings there, Ballet Dancers, by Hilaire-Germain-Edgar Degas is featured there. The students walked around in groups for a period of time and then we headed over to Buckingham Palace!

Buckingham Palace is the residence of the UK's sovereigns. We saw the palace's guards posted and march around to stretch their bodies after a long day of protecting the palace and its residents. Many group photos were taken and everybody had a great time!

After our adventure to the palace, we headed over to the O2 where we split into two groups to eat dinner or walk around before our booked Cable Car experience. The group reunited to for our next adventure and the cable cars were such a sight! We had a great time and even saw an Uber Boat (?!)

The groups split up again so that some folks could go to the hotel room and others could go to dinner and see do some site seeing! The touring group saw the London Eye, the House of Parliament, and Big Ben. We had lots of laughs and saw some amazing architecture around the city. Overall, the day was yet again, another hit!
